Camping will be available at the Castle.  The campsite is in a beautiful family friendly spot adjacent to the stables and main house and a hop skip and a jump from the lake.  Toilets and shower facilities will be available.

For camper van and caravan owners, there are no facilities for electric hook-up or the disposal of human waste.

Castle Howard

Castle Howard is located just 15 miles north east of York, just off the A64 in the direction of Malton and Scarborough.
From the North: From the A1 take the A61 to Thirsk then the A170 to Helmsley. Before Helmsley turn right onto the B1257 and follow the brown signs.
From the South: Take the A1M to Junction 45 and follow the A64 east to York. Continue past York and eventually you will pick up the brown signs for Castle Howard.

Camping is not available at Château de Chantilly itself but there are other campsites available locally including Campix in St Leu d’Esserent where previous participants have stayed. For more information on Campix, click on this link http://www.campingcampix.com. Negotiations are also ongoing with the Château to open a temporary campsite for competitors near the Racecourse.

Hever Castle

Camping is available within the estate grounds of Hever Castle. If you are a camper with a tent or have a campervan or caravan take this fantastic opportunity to stay within the spectacular grounds of the Castle. Camping can be added on to your race booking or booked separately here.

There will be toilet and showering facilities available. However, there will be no electric hook-up or human waste disposal for caravans or campervans on the site.

Camping 

The Markel Castle Triathlon Series is offering camping at all UK and Irish castles. If you are a camper with a tent or have a Campervan or Caravan take this fantastic opportunity to stay within the spectacular grounds of the Castle at which you are competing. There will be toilet and showering facilities available at all sites.

Camping can be added on to your race booking or booked separately here.

There will be no electric hook-up or human waste disposal for caravans or camper vans on the site (except for Castle Howard).

Prices for camping at the Castles are as follows:

  • Tent (2 people) - between £16.00 to £22.00 per night (depending on the castle)
  • Extra Person - between £6.00 to £8.00 per night (depending on the castle)

Camping at Chateau de Chantilly is subject to further negotiations with the estate.

Camping Policies

1. ACCESS TO THE CAMP SITE

At Cholmondeley Castle and Castle Howard access to the campsite can be gained from 2.00pm on the day before the race.

On the Friday the Camping area at Hever Castle will open for access from 5pm.  Please drive to the castle entrance (signpost marked from all directions) If you plan to arrive on Saturday, please arrive after 5pm as races will be underway. 

Any large camper vans to contact the campsite manager on arrival and wait in the Hever Castle car park for alternative directions onto the campsite.  This is due to restricted access through the main campsite entrance.

Once inside the allocated camp ground you have access on foot to the castle grounds (limited access) and the race village. No vehicles will be allowed to move on the site while the grounds are open to the public. This information will be confirmed approximately two weeks before race day for all venues.

2. VEHICLES 

Vehicles must be parked in designated parking areas when the gates are open to the public. Your cooperation is appreciated and the authentic look and feel of the event should be a source of pride for all participants. 

ARRIVAL AFTER 10 PM. Many of the campers will have had very long days or may be on site with children and wish to go to sleep early. As a result any camper who cannot arrive by car before 22.00hrs or who wants to leave and come back on site must take special care not to wake others on arrival. When you arrive you will be directed to the camping field. 

3. LITTER

Any litter, which you bring on site, will you please take it out with you or deposit it in the litter bins provided. 

4. FOOD AND DRINK

Food and drink will be available for purchase on site whilst the triathlons are taking place.  Outside of these times campers will need to make their own provision for food.

5. FACILITIES

There will be sufficient toilet showering and changing facilities available. There will be running cold water available.

6. SECURITY

A Markel Castle Triathlon Series representative will be in charge of site security.  All campers are liable for their own possessions.
