Race 4 - Chateau de Chantilly Triathlon - Sunday 26 August 2012
Race 4 - The Chateau de Chantilly Triathlon - Sunday 26th August 2012
This date over the UK bank holiday weekend hosts the French leg of the Castle Triathlon Series in the spectacular and historic town of Chantilly, (2.5hrs drive from Calais) 40 miles North of Paris in the Picardie region.
After the success of the 2011 introduction of "The Chantilly", an Olympic distance race we will retain this for 2012 to enable all competitors to compete against English and French elite triathletes over the distances that they will have competed in at the Olympic Games in London 2012.
In the height of summer the weather is sure to provide an idyllic setting as a competitive field from both the United Kingdom and Europe embark on this truly unique race. Chantilly has all the ingredients for a fantastic and challenging race with the 2.5km Grand Canal overlooked by the Château and its gardens. Triathletes will transition within the ‘Terrace de Constables’ and set off into a fast 20km or 40km cycle circuit around the Foret de Chantilly. Re-entering transition triathletes run the surrounding woodlands and Chateau gardens finishing within site of the beautiful Chateau.
Junior and Children's Races
Junior and Children’s races take place within the Castle grounds and swim in the same water source/lake as adults. The cycle course is technical and the run takes in the castle gardens and monuments. The races are not only exciting, but are marshaled and timed as professionally as the Sprint and Olympic distance races. These races are designed for the ‘real’ experience with as much fun as the adult course. Please note that the children will remain on the estate throughout the whole race and will need mountain or road bikes with off road tyres to navigate the off road course.
Race Distances and Pricing
To compete in the Chateau de Chantilly you can enter either as an individual, a relay team of two, or a relay team of three. The Junior and children’s races follow the same format. Relay entries can be all male, all female or mixed.
If you would like to enter (but not compete) as a family, by entering the Sprint or Olympic distance for two adults and any three Junior or Children's entries you will be rewarded on price.
