Castle Triathlon Series

Hever Castle Race

For most, the last (and most stunning) race of the season. This weekend hosts the final triathlon in The Markel Castle Series. This is our fourth year hosting the event which in 2011 was the third largest triathlon in the UK.  In 2011 by popular demand we added, as with all the other races in the Series an Olympic distance race which will enable all competitors to compete against some of the very best elite triathletes in the UK over distances that will used at the Olympic Games in London 2012.

All triathletes start with an open water swim in the spectacular 38 acre Hever Castle Lake, transitioning into the cycle which will take place around a 20km circuit through the High Weald of Kent an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with one lap for the Sprint and two laps for the Olympic distance. The run circumnavigates the estate and award winning castle grounds before making the dash to the finish beside the lake.

Junior and Children's Races

Junior and Children’s races take place within the Castle grounds and swim in the same water source/lake as adults. The cycle course is technical and the run takes in the castle gardens and monuments. The races are not only exciting, but are marshalled and timed as professionally as the Sprint, Mid-Distance and Olympic races. These races are designed for the ‘real’ experience with as much fun as the adult course.  Please note that the children will remain on the estate throughout the whole race and will need mountain bikes to navigate the off road course.

Access to the Castle and Grounds

This year for the first time we will be charging spectators who come to watch the event.  Prices for entry will be published in the early part of 2012.  The ticket will give the holder access to all areas of the grounds and wider estate.  An additional supplement will need to be purchased to gain access to the Castle itself.

Start Times

Each adult race will be split into waves setting off at 10 minute intervals. The first adult wave will start at 8.00am.
Entrants will be notified of their wave time in their race pack.
The Junior and Children's races will start at 2.00pm.  There will be multiple waves for each age group.

We advise that entrants arrive at least 1 hour before their wave time.

On the Day

On the day there will be an entertainments area, food and drink outlets as well as an array of retail and sampling stalls.
