Why beetroot juice?
Beetroot juice is well established as a natural solution for reducing blood pressure but in recent years research has shown that it can be a significant sports performance enhancer, which is becoming more popular in both the endurance and team sport communities.
Beetroot juice is a source of dietary nitrate. Dietary nitrate is found in several types of foods including, spinach, lettuce, beetroot, celery, arugula and more. Beetroot juice is particularly popular as it provides a quick, controlled amount of dietary nitrate in liquid form compared to food sources that can have widely variable amounts.
When dietary nitrate is consumed, it is eventually reduced into nitrite, increasing plasma nitrite levels. When oxygen levels in muscle are reduced, or as pH levels lower (which occurs during exercise) plasma nitrite is reduced further into nitric oxide. Recent research has shown that this can result in improved blood flow and oxygenation, reduced blood pressure and oxygen cost, and muscular efficiency. The effects on these four characteristics during exercise have been linked to improved performance.
What is BeetActive?
BeetActive is a 100% natural premium quality beetroot concentrate. Unlike a lot of beetroot drinks BeetActive tastes great and contains no added sugars, sweeteners or preservatives. What’s more it’s a great source of dietary nitrates; a single 30ml serving contains 229mg of dietary nitrates.
How do I use it?
We recommend taking a 30ml serving of BeetActive diluted in 250ml of water one to two hours prior to training. If you are preparing for a big event you can ‘load’ it by taking a 30ml serving daily for three days prior to the event.
