Female focussed

With Non Stanford the reigning ITU World Champion, Chrissie Wellington still the Ironman record holder and age-group participation on the rise, women’s triathlon in the UK is riding a wave of success.

Female focussed

Few elite sports offer as much gender equality as triathlon, with Wellington famous for beating the majority of the men, and the feel good female figures continue in the grassroots race scene.

One third of our Castle Triathlon Series competitors are female and the numbers are growing each year, which in turn is leading to the huge surge of children taking up the sport.

It’s a trend that we want to support more at Castle Triathlon Series. We’ve created a host of women’s only waves at each event’s super sprint race. Women who’d like to race with their female peers can elect to join the women’s only wave, simply tick the box when registering online.

I just wanted to say a big thanks to the castle triathlon team for a superb race at Castle Howard but I’m especially grateful that you recommended the women’s only wave. I had made some new friends during the briefing which helped ease the nerves and would even go as far as saying that I enjoyed it!

Sport has been an integral part of my life both professionally [P.E. teacher] and personally. Having competed and trained for a number of sports over the years [!] I truly believe triathlon is the one that is the most rewarding and addictive! For a plethora of reasons, namely the personal satisfaction you gain from learning and developing the techniques, fitness requirements and skills for each discipline. Also, the wonderful people you meet in all areas of the sport, be that fellow competitors, race organisers, officials, coaches and spectators. The sport is now a way of life for me and the people in make it feel like home! More specifically, the Castle Series is one that creates that feeling of home, in that the organisers are very welcoming and hospitable to all abilities and needs. They certainly certainly look after you from start to finish! Your training in the build-up to the event will enable you to strive to be the best you can be physically but also mentally, feel good factor from finishing a triathlon is immense and hugely satisfying. You deserve the bragging rights!!
