Calum Pinder

Born and raised in Liverpool, Calum spent most of his formative years playing football and running cross country. At the ripe old age of 27, Calum decided to try triathlon as something to do as he couldn’t play football anymore after a complete tear and removal of his ACL. His first race was an ironman 70.3 in Finland which he completed in over 5 hours and decided he wanted to take it more seriously. At Ashridge Sprint Duathlon, he qualified for the Team GB Age Group Squad, finishing as first qualifier in his age group. A month later he qualified second in standard duathlon at Grafham Water. And a few months later, on his home town’s turf, he qualified for GB age group squad in Olympic distance triathlon. To raise awareness of homelessness, Calum donated one of his sponsorship positions to the Big Issue Foundation. He lives in Brixton with his wife and miniature dachshund.

Dean Gray

Most of my life, since joining the army at 16, I have been heavily involved in all sorts of fitness, from representing the army in swimming, cross country, orienteering and much more. I have always wanted to do a triathlon and Castle Howard was my first one in 2019, and after that I have been hooked. 2020 will be my year to get better and bump up the distance from sprint to Olympic, with 2021 being the year of the half Ironman. Watch this space.
  • Favourite Castle Triathlon Series course – so far Castle Howard.
  • 2020 Goal – to become fitter, faster and achieve a podium place for my age group. And not to fall off my bike whilst doing it.
  • Interesting fact – I’m a qualified swimming coach.

“The mind is the battlefield, and the body is the weapon. The body can defeat the mind and gain victory over any ground. Never give up, never give in and always get back up.”
