COVID 19 Update

COVID-19 UPDATE

Hever update on 09.09.20

Following the news on Tuesday 8th September stating that from Monday 14th September changes will be made to meeting up in England.

I am sure some of you will be curious as to how that affects the Hever Castle event on 26th and 27th September.  I am pleased to confirm that as this is an organised sports event, with government guidelines already in place and complying with social distancing, it will be exempt.

Furthermore we have had confirmation from the BTF, who are in dialogue with Sport England and and Recreational Alliance, who in turn are in dialogue with DCMS.  See the BTF statement here.

We look forward to welcoming you to Hever Castle for a safe and socially distanced series of multisport events. If anything does change we will let you know as soon as possible.

As part of the build-up we will be hosting a Q&A for athletes to  ask all those burning questions to the events team. Details here

COVID-19 UPDATE

A message from our Race Director on 14.08.20

Dear Athletes,

In the last 24 hours, much has changed with regards to travel between the UK and France. The English government has enforced a 14-day isolation period and the French government is planning to reciprocate in the next few days and, at the moment is permitting entry to France for essential travel only.

Despite our very best efforts to go ahead, this has left us with no option but to cancel the Château de Chantilly event on Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th August 2020.

We are, of course, upset about this decision, but know that the safety of everyone at the event and in the surrounding area is paramount at this time.

This difficult decision has been made in consultation with our French partners, suppliers, the Château and with the Sous Préfecture (local safety advisory group) in Chantilly. There is, of course, a lot of pressure from the French government to keep regions across France as safe as possible and Covid-19 cases to a minimum, and so the Sous Préfecture has requested the event no longer goes ahead.

The enforced isolation on arrival and departure from France dramatically affects the travel plans of all our staff and suppliers. This means it is not possible for us to run a safe event at this time.

We are hugely disappointed about this decision, and appreciate that this will come as a big blow to you too. We are grateful for your ongoing support and understanding in these times of rapidly changing circumstances.

We have opened up options for transferring your race place so please scroll down to find out more.

COVID-19 UPDATE

A message from our Race Director on 30.06.20

Dear Athletes,

You may have seen the hopeful communication we put out at the end of last week regarding the racing weekend at Castle Howard on 25th – 26th July. Over the last few days, following careful and considered discussion between ourselves and the venue we have sadly come to a joint decision to cancel.

This is hugely disappointing news for all parties, not least for you, our valued supporters and competitors, but we have to make safety the main priority.  Our events come to life through a careful balance of decision making, with many moving parts and a host of different organisations involved behind the scenes, all of which need be in place and in full agreement before an event can take place. It’s a fine balancing act but we must ensure the health and safety of not only our participants but also of all those involved with the event on site.

We came to this joint decision as we are concerned that the uncertainty and potential time lag between getting a green light and then producing all necessary risk assessments and communicating appropriately with stakeholders could risk adverse publicity and ultimately run a risk of non-compliance with guidelines imposed by government. Although a huge blow, we understand and support Castle Howard’s concern around the risks we’d take if we were to go ahead and want to ensure we retain the positive relationship we have with the venue, their staff and visitors.

For those of you effected by this latest announcement, please scroll down to SEASON 2020 UPDATE for links to next steps.

Again, we are so grateful for your continued support and understanding. Please know, it is always our intention to keep our community safe and up to date. We will continue to focus on getting our Chantilly and Hever events off the ground and remain dedicated to providing a great experience at all our races.

We hope you and your loved ones are keeping safe and well.

COVID-19 UPDATE

A message from our Race Director on 26.05.20

COVID-19 Update  26th May 2020

Dear Athletes,

In light of the current plans laid out by the British Government and the lack of clarity around mass gatherings/large group sizes and the recent announcement from British Triathlon Federation, we sadly have no choice but to cancel The Festival of Endurance on 5 July at Hever Castle.

Although hugely disappointing, we know that you, like us, understand that the safety of society at large and of each other is paramount at this time.

This difficult decision has been made in consideration of five key factors: British Triathlon Federation; Government Policy (which feeds into our Local Authority and Safety Advisory Group); our Venues; the health and safety of our Participants and our Suppliers; the economic viability of the event given our short lead times.

For those of you effected by this latest announcement, please scroll down to SEASON 2020 UPDATE for links to next steps.

Again we cannot thank you enough for your continued support and understanding. We are dedicated to make sure you can still have great experiences at our races in the future.

We hope you and your loved ones are keeping safe and well.

With all our best wishes,
Brian Adcock and The Castle Triathlon Series Team

COVID-19 STATEMENT

Race Director's message on 03.04.20

Full statement 3rd April 2020

Dear Athletes,

It’s now very clear that our 2020 season, and your ability to prepare and train for it, are already hugely impacted by the coronavirus. As the Founder and Race Director of The Castle Triathlon Series, I wanted to update you about our upcoming events, specifically with regard to those due to take place in May and June.

As you will have seen from our Active email and across our social media channels, we can no longer go ahead with the first two events of our season at Lough Cutra Castle (23/24 May) and Cholmondeley Castle (20/21 June). Although extremely disappointing, we know that you, like us, understand that the safety of society at large and of each other is paramount at this time.

In what has been a continually evolving and challenging time globally, we have been working hard behind the scenes to plan a safe route forward. We have been in continuous conversations with the British Triathlon Federation, Triathlon Ireland, both venues and fellow event organisers and have taken into account the clear announcements from the British and Irish Governments.

Together, we have worked through various scenarios and would like to assure you that the interests of you, our valued athletes are at the forefront of our minds. We hope the range of options we are able to announce below, demonstrates our commitment to you and the long-term continuation of The Castle Triathlon, Run, Swim and Multisport Series.

We are a core team of five working hard throughout each year to put on larger than life events which bring us a priceless sense of reward and achievement. For 12 years we have been committed to delivering premium events at stunning locations around the UK and in France and Ireland. We very much intend to continue doing so for many more years to come. Our success has been built on the foundation of a hugely supportive wider event team, partners and supplies not to mention our Venue Owners and of course you our loyal participants. We know so many of you return year on year and we thank you wholeheartedly for your support. In order to survive this crisis, we simply cannot offer refunds and trust our participants can support us with this decision as we open up alternative options.

I want to thank you for your trust, and for the massive support you have shown my team and I as we all face incredibly hard times and make difficult decisions. Please know that we are dedicated to make sure you can still have great experiences at our races in 2020 and beyond.

With all of our best wishes,

Brian Adcock and The Castle Triathlon Series Team
