Castle Howard played host this past Sunday (21st July) to the second Castle Howard Half Marathon and 10k Run, which forms part of Castle Run Series. The stunning off-road runs sit alongside the Castle Triathlon Series festival, which saw over 2700 runners, swimmers and triathletes take part and celebrate sporting success.
Castle Howard’s run route take in spectacular scenes from the Howardian Hills, an undulating Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, as well as historic landmarks such as the Howard Mausoleum and the Temple of the Four Winds.
Taking place for the second year, a new course record was set by Charlie Binns who completed the course in an impressive time od 01:15:51. In the women’s race Rowena Leary completed the half marathon in 01:36:46.

Endurance Runner Susie Chan, who commentated the event, added, “I had a fantastically enjoyable weekened commentating at Castle Howard. It’s always inspiring to see athletes compete from so many different events. It had a great atmosphere too, I especially enjoyed seeing so many runners taking part in the Castle Run Series events!”
