The Lough Cutra Castle Triathlon is delighted to announce that the Middle Distance race ‘The Gauntlet’ has been selected by Triathlon Ireland as a qualifier for the 2018 ETU European Championships. The race this year will offer five slots to athletes across each age group to qualify for the European Championship Race in 2018.
For those athletes with a burning desire to race and represent their, club, county and Country this is the perfect opportunity to chase that goal and dream! What better way to stay focused on your training, racing and goals over the next few months than visualising running down the finish line of The Gauntlet and qualifying to race on the world stage.
The Gauntlet middle distance race will see athletes swim 1.9km in the largest privately owned lake in Europe, cycle 96km circumnavigating the grounds of Lough Cutra Castle taking in the beautiful scenery of The Burren National Park. The single loop bike course will also include the infamous Corkscrew Hill. The 21.1Km run is a 3 lap course through the forest trails and estate at Lough Cutra Castle finishing in front of the stunning Castle.
