Keeping us connected, fit and sane whilst raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support
The Castle Virtual Series are weekend race events. Our race days are Friday, Saturday and Sunday and on Monday at 6pm we host a live Prize Giving on Facebook. We celebrate podium places and prizes in the post for the winners, the best dressed, and medals for all.
Race 7 : The Yorkshire Terrier 24 – 26 July
We have 30 races to choose from – Duathlon, Triathlon, Run only, Swim only, Cycle only, Aquabike and Aquathon. So whether you’re 8 or 88 we have a distance for you.
The Castle Virtual Series will donate 20% of the Entry Fee to our charity partner Macmillan Cancer Support so they can continue to deliver the physical, emotional and financial support to those living with cancer and their families, helping to live life as fully as they can.
A community event
To create a truly community event, we’re asking all participants carry out your challenge over the Event weekends. We hope you enjoy being active with fellow participants virtually, interacting with each other on the Castle Series social media channels and making the most of the space and time you have to exercise in a safe but competitive environment. Think up creative ways to complete your race is an essential part of the fun! However you need to just GET. IT. DONE.
Multi discipline participants can complete their race in one fell swoop (ie as if you were racing at one of our events) or you can do each leg at separate times over the weekend, for example in the case of a duathlon:
Friday – Leg 1: First Run Saturday – Leg 2: Cycle Sunday – Leg 3: Second Run
Single discipline participants can complete their race at any point over the three days.
We have loved seeing so many triathlon, running and athletics clubs taking part in our Castle Virtual Series. We thought it was about time we encouraged some friendly competition. May the best clubs/companies win!
For every Castle Virtual Series race we will be running a Club and Company Championships. Recruit your training or work friends to take part for a chance to win:
Points Competition : Club/company with lowest points* wins 35% off race entry for all members to a Castle Series event in 2021
Participant Competition : Club/company with most participants taking part wins 35% off race entry for all members to a Castle Series event in 2021
*Minimum of 5 participants from your club, the top 5 positioned participants places will be added together to determine your club position in the point system, participants can compete in any of the events and distances.
Macmillan Cancer Support understand that things are especially worrying at this time if you have cancer or someone you love does, so wanted to let you know how they can help. The cancer and coronavirus pages on Macmillan’s website have lots of information and practical support. If you are worried about cancer symptoms, cancer treatment, money, or need to talk to someone, visit their website or call their helpline on 0808 808 00 00. Lines are currently open Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm. You can also talk to other people affected by cancer (which can be a big help) through Macmillan’s Online Community at any time night or day.
We and your fellow participants are counting on your integrity and honesty when timing each leg and submitting your results.
Once you’ve completed a leg, take a picture or screenshot of the evidence of time and distance covered. Results submission follows a 2 STEP process via MY EVENTS portal. 1, Edit Your Registration to input your timings then simply upload you image document(s) and we’ll do the rest!
With the easing of lockdown measures and where possible we encourage all multi discipline participants to take to road and mountain bikes to complete their cycle section of the race. If you are competing from the comfort of your “pain cave”/ indoors, we will only accept timings from turbo-trainers (properly calibrated to replicate road racing conditions) and static bikes. Due to the huge advantage afforded by using rollers we will no longer accept timings for the competitive race from this form of indoor trainer.
The leader board is refreshed at 12 noon, 6pm & 10pm throughout the weekend
Over the weekend of Virtual racing, follow your progress as well as the efforts of fellow participants on Leader Board.
Once you’ve completed a leg of your event, edit you registration via MY EVENTS to add your timing and upload you documents so that our team can verify them and get you up on our leader board.
